  1. (noun) (pronounced WIZZ-em) Former highly popular Top 40 format radio station in Madison; most directly in competition with Z-104 (WZEE-FM) and known for its radio personalities such as Clyde Coffee. It broadcast on 1480 am. Heyday was from the late 1960s to early 1980s. Renamed WTDY in the mid-1980s and converted to a news-talk format. WTDY later moved from the 1480am frequency. The call letters WISM now belong to an Eau Claire-area radio station.
