This is a nice neighborhood that has its street sides adorned liberally with trees. Businesses in the Vilas neighborhood include Trader Joe's, Pasqual's, Wingra Boat & Sailing, Taste of India, Michael's Frozen Custard. Edgewood College and Vilas Zoo also call this neighborhood home. Because of its attractiveness, the neighborhood's homes are often very expensive, but you get what you pay for.
