  1. Terrace chairs are quintessential Madison. Marketing literature for the city almost always features a close-up of one or more of these chairs with Lake Mendota in the background. If you try to buy one, it will be either red or white, which is one of the reasons people often prefer to steal the real deal. Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 09, 2009 (0) (0)
  2. And don't ever steal one, the police will hunt you down! Posted by: Native on Jan 06, 2009 (0) (0)
  3. They might be a tad uncomfortable, but you only realize it because you're tempted to spend hours on end on them. The terrace chairs have so much nostalgic value that people often steal them before skipping town. As one of the photos on here implies, some people steal them and display them prominently on their porches. Posted by: madmax on Sep 24, 2009 (0) (1)
  4. Sure, the terrace chairs are emblematic of UW-Madison, and perhaps Madison as a whole, but nobody ever assesses their comfort. I find them quite uncomfortable. Posted by: uwmad09 on Aug 06, 2008 (3) (4)
