  1. When Q-Doba was Z-Teca, it was known for employees familiar to the rave scene. People with lots of piercings and tattoos made your burritos in time to heavy techno or trance music. It seemed like the busiest hours were just after 2am when the bars closed.

  2. In 1995, this chain started under the name of Z-Teca. In 1999, they began changing the name of their 49 restaurants to Qdoba. Today, there are only Qdobas. Chipotle came first nationally, but Z-Teca came first in Madison.

  3. Qdoba Mexican Grill is a restaurant franchise started in 1995 by Anthony Miller in Denver, Colorado. Jack in the Box acquired Qdoba in 2003. There are now over 400 locations in the U.S., with 3 right here in Madison.

Qdoba is a great place to get burritos, tacos, quesadillas, nachos, or taco salad. The food is of a much higher quality than Taco Bell in my opinion. It is quite similar to Chipotle in many respects.

  4. A great Mexican Grill, which preceded Chipotle's arrival to Madison. Previously called Z-Teca, Qdoba is just like its copycat Mexican grill rival in indgredients and flavor, but it offers much more variety of combinations than the one-size-fits-all Chipotle. For example Qdoba has great nachos, and offers different styles of burritos. (They even have a pesto burrito.)
