  1. Name after an event in Chicago's Maxwell Street, this two-day bargain-hunting festival actually take place on Madison's State Street. Every Friday and Saturday of the third week of July, clothing retailers set up shop for this discount-driven sidewalk sale. This event is not just about clothing, though. Many specialty food vendors take part in the event, as well as bands playing live music.
