  1. (noun) Minor league baseball team present in Madison from 1982-1993, after which it moved to Michigan and became the West Michigan Whitecaps. First minor league team to play in Madison in several decades. Team was a member of the Midwest League and was a Class A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, sharing the A's colors of green and gold. Played at Breese Stevens Field in its first few games in 1982 until its new home at Warner Park on the city's north side was ready (now the home of the Madison Mallards). Nicknamed "The Fish", brilliantly promoted and wildly popular in its first few seasons. Stadium popularly known as "The Fish Pond" in its Muskies days.
