Author Description: "These places look kind of schlunky, but they're actually kind of good."

Author Comment: "You probably wouldn't even take a second (or first) glance at Maharani while you're cruising down West Wash, but it's probably the best Indian restaurant in Madison."
2. Pizza Di Roma A great by-the-slice pizza place on State Street. It caters mostly to the late-night drunk crowd, and doesn't look so gr...
Author Comment: "This place gets ignored by just about everyone but the late-night drunk crowd, but the pizza is actually pretty good. The crust is better than at Ian's, as is it's regular pepperoni and sausage varieties."

4. Mediterranean Cafe One of the warmest, loveliest places to eat in downtown Madison. Owned by a fantastic man named "Fice". The restaurant o...
Author Comment: "Chances are that you'll walk right by it a million times if you haven't heard about it through word of mouth. 5. Jolly Bob's A nice little restaurant and bar on Willy Street. They specialize in Caribbean cuisine and have a small dance floor that...
Author Comment: "It looks pretty unimpressive, but has excellent Caribbean food."
6. Vientiane Palace A nice little Laotian restaurant located on Gorham Street (with another location on South Park). If you're unfamiliar wi...
Author Comment: "By popular demand, I have edited the list to include Vientiane. So shady-looking, yet so good. If you like inattentive service and good food, this is the place for you!"
