  1. A pizza place that sells everything from black bean pizza to macaroni and cheese pizza. This very popular pizza place has two downtown locations--one on Frances Street and a newer one on State Street, a block away from the state capitol building. The pizza ingredients are numerous and high-quality. On weekend nights this pizza place is packed with drunk college kids. Otherwise it's really chill. Posted by: madmax on Apr 04, 2008 (4) (1)
  2. I am not impressed by the recent changes at Ian's. Not only did they raise their specialty slice price to $3.50, but they also removed their flavors that include black beans, avocados, and kalamata olives due to seasonal pricing. According to an employee, avocados will only be served July through October. Posted by: Anonymous on Jan 30, 2009 (2) (0)
  3. A pizza joint started by Ian Gurfield, who was inspired by pizza places back home in Massachusetts. He wanted to open a great specialty pizza place in a college town. He spent the better part of a year searching the country for the ideal location for his first restaurant. After that time all signs pointed to Madison. He started his first Frances St. location in 2001 and then expanded in the spring of 2005 with a State Street location. Both restaurants are wildly successful with the late night bar crowd, as well as the professional lunch crowd (although to a lesser extent). Ian has also invested in local Gotham Bagels on Mifflin St., which serves New York-style bagels. The Ian's Pizza brand has most recently expanded into the Chicago area with its Wrigleyville location. 4. Madison's most popular "pizza by the slice" place. It's State Street rival Pizza Di Roma has excellent pizza as well, but Ian's beats it out because it excels in specialty pizzas that cater to a greater array of tastes. Posted by: hurricaneditka on Sep 17, 2008 (1) (0)
  5. Really the only place in Madison to get specialty pizzas. Slices are $3. If you want to get regular pepperoni, you can buy a huge pizza for a great price. Years ago they sold for $10. It might be more like $12 now, but it's still a great deal. Ian's now delivers, too. Posted by: uwmad09 on Aug 06, 2008 (1) (0)
  6. Great pizza place with interesting flavors. They're in Chicago and Milwaukee now. College kids love this place, and go there in hordes after bar time. Regular adults even patronize Ian's during the day when they're not drunk because the pizza is good. Posted by: Anonymous on Mar 23, 2010 (0) (0)
  7. A late night pizza place for the party crowd. Go there during the day and you'll be pleasantly surprised that the pizza is quite passable during daylight. The combinations are generally pretty good. They'll usually have about ten choices, most of which are very tasty. Posted by: Anonymous on Dec 08, 2009 (0) (0)
  8. Ian's is the best pizza place in Madison and gets an "A" for assortment. They have a number of different flavor combinations that you can't find anywhere else in town. Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 19, 2009 (0) (0)
  9. The State Street location is well known for "create your own" salads, as well as the pizza. Posted by: tsquar on Jul 10, 2008 (1) (1)
  10. Good pizza with great variety. It's actually a pretty decent deal to get the whole pie. The most expensive pizza is a 20" with five toppings for $24, which isn't so bad because it will serve five people or so. Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 19, 2009 (0) (1)
