  3. Freakfest: The newly renamed premier Halloween event in Madison, WI on State Street. Numerous corporations as well as the city of Madison now sponsor the event in a controlled manner, providing security and music in the form of bands. One of the first bands that performed during Freakfest involved an acoustic guitar...during Halloween...on State Street...in Madison...in a song about how sad the lead singer was about losing his girlfriend. 4. Freakfest is a city sponsored event on state street that was invented in 2007 for the sole purpose of coopting the spontaneous unsponsored event that had been taking place for years before. 6. I remember back in the 70's and 80's the amount of people packing state street was unbelievable. They started to control the event when an ambulance couldn't reach a downed participant and they died that night. There were other times when the drunken debouchery reached new heights and occasional clashes with the police were not unheard of. Posted by: slpaff on Dec 02, 2009 (0) (0)
  7. The 2009 Freakfest music line-up includes Third Eye Blind, Elephant Cage, Push Play, Will Calder, as well as some others to be announced. While many would deride the commercial nature of the event since the recent measures to prevent rioting, the live music is definitely an added benefit. Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 18, 2009 (0) (0)
  8. The Midwest's best Halloween party, bar-none. People come up from Chicago, or over from the Twin Cities for this event. Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 19, 2009 (0) (1)
