Dane County Farmer's Market   Add to Favorites   Flag

  1. The Dane County Farmer's Market is a larger producer only farmer's market. That means the people at the market actually had something to do with the growing, raising or producing of the food. The summer Saturday market is what most people think about when they think of the Farmer's Market. It runs from late April to Early November. The Saturday Market is located around the Capitol Square.

  2. Of note is that visitors to the Dane County Farmer's Market walk counterclockwise around the Capitol Square. Walking in the other direction is highly frowned upon.

  3. Yes, while once a great place to purchase locally grown produce and to people watch, it has become a bit too much. It is true that you will get mean looks for walking the wrong direction, and the dog ban can result in a ticket from Madison's finest. The smaller Wednesday version just off the square between the Madison Municipal building and the City/County building is a nice alternative.

  4. Leave your dog at home. Many people used to bring their dogs with them to walk around the square, but due to numerous safety concerns, dogs (except for service dogs) are not allowed on the square.
