  1. The City Brewery was the original name of the brewery started by Gotlieb Heileman and John Gund in 1858. The name has since returned to the current City Brewery, LLC now operating in the same part of downtown La Crosse. They brew and bottle a number of beverages for regional distribution, including City Lager and City Light.
