  1. A successful CBA basketball team in the early 90's, winning the CBA championship in 1990 and 1992 behind coach Flip Saunders. A number of people from the Catbirds went on to the NBA, including Elliot Perry, as well as the aforementioned Flip Saunders who went on to have a successful coaching career in the NBA.

  2. The La Crosse Catbirds were a CBA (Continental Basketball Association) team that played its home games at the La Crosse Center. The Catbirds later became the La Crosse Bobcats when the CBA returned to La Crosse, but the CBA was dissolved a few years after. Since then, La Crosse has supported other professional sports teams including the indoor football team (part of the IFL) called the La Crosse River Rats.
