  1. Gay Pride, held the first weekend of June in Salt Lake City, is one of the largest Pride festivals in the Western U.S. (per capita) and even rivals the celebrations held in cities like Las Vegas.

    Gay Pride festivities continue to grow each year drawing tens of thousands. The yearly parade is second only to the "Days of 47" parade which celebrates the arrival of the Mormon Pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley.

    While Utah itself is one of the most conservative states in the U.S., Salt Lake City (downtown proper) is quite liberal and was recently nominated the "gayest city" in the U.S. by a national gay publication, the Advocate:
