1 Definition
  1. The only corn palace in the world! The first corn palace was built by early settlers in 1892 to display the fruits of their harvest and to prove the fertility of South Dakota soil. The third and present building was completed at its present location in 1921. The outside of the building is decorated with murals made out of thousands of bushels of corn grain, grass, oats, rye, straw and wheat. Each year new murals depicting life in South Dakota are created by local artists. Posted by: sdnative on Apr 25, 2008 (0) (0)
