A nickname for Cincinnati in recognition of its former status as a major pork industry center.

In the midst of the debate over the Iraq war, a few US congressmen exercised their freedom to slight the French by renaming french fries and french toast in the congressional cafeteria. Enter "Freedom Fries".

When I first moved to the area, this is one of the odd foods I found out about that is a regional favorite. Squeaky cheese is simply a bit of the curd taken out before the rest of the cheese is aged. It squeaks when you eat it. People from 'round these parts take pride in their squeaky cheese.

The original name for the area now known as Roanoke. "Big Lick" got its name from an exposed portion of salt that drew wildlife to the area.
