  1. Spaldeen refers to a type of ball that was used to play stickball in New York. Spaldeen is actually a New York (mis)pronunciation of the word Spalding, the company that manufactures the "high-bounce" balls, as Spalding calls them. The Spaldeen pronunciation ran so rampant in New York that Spalding actually trademarked the name and presents the "Spaldeen" story to its customers in the hopes of resurrecting the game's popularity.
