1 Definition
  1. The Mermaid Parade, Coney Island's tribute to its own forgotten Mardi Gras, is a slightly bizarre celebration designed to usher in the beginning of summer. The parade features a throng of costumed King Neptunes and Queen Mermaids, presided over each year by a different celebrity duo of Royal Merpeople who ceremoniously open the summer swimming season.
