  1. On the north end of U of M's East Bank campus, Dinkytown is home to many a rowdy college student and is often jokingly referred to as "Drinkytown". Although many people have their own explanation for the origin of Dinkytown's name, the most plausible one that I've heard is that dinkys is what people called the streetcars that used to provide transport in the neighborhood.
