  1. First leg of horse racing's Triple Crown, the Kentucky Derby is a Grade I stakes race for Thoroughbreds held at Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY. The Kentucky Derby is always run on the first Saturday in May.

    Also called the "Run for the Roses" and typically associated with Mint Julep, a unique alcoholic concoction made of Mint, Bourbon, Sugar and Water.
