  1. Kentucky's obsession with the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team. The tradition rich program is a great source of pride for the locals. The team has seven NCAA and two Helms national championships, 43 SEC regular season championships, 25 SEC tournament championships, and has more wins than any other NCAA division one program through the 2007-2008 season. As the team wins and loses, the mood of the whole state follows. It is best to not disparage the team if trying to be friendly with the locals.
