Richmond has its very own Dog n Suds Drive In, better known by the locals as "Arf n Barf."

Nickname for Hillsboro, a suburb due west of Portland. Vastly cheaper to live than the city, Hillsboro suffers most from being just a normal suburb and not some swanky bubble (like the Pearl). Also a strong showing of Hispanics.

New Orleans cemeteries (due to the high water table, people in New Orleans are buried above ground).

Lake Champlain's version of the Loch Ness Monster. People have reported seeing a monster in the lake for hundreds of years. In fact, the monster regardless of its actual existance is protected by both Vermont and New York laws. There was a monument to Champ erected in 1984, at the end of Burlington's Perkins Pier.

Original nickname for the Syracuse University sports teams. No, it has nothing to do with crackers, but rather Syracuse's prominence in the salt trade. The Saltine Warriors then became the Orangemen, and then the more gender-neutral Orange.
