  1. Referring to The Greenwood Lounge, one of Des Moines' oldest and most beloved dive bars.

    An Ingersoll institution and always the start or finish of the "Ingersoll crawl," the Wood features paneled walls, relic chandeliers and video games, murals of dogs playing cards, comfy booths, and the best old-school juke box in the entire city of Des Moines.

    Just as famous is Paul, long-time Greenwood bartender who remembers nearly every patron by name or drink, and mixes a mean extra dirty Tanqueray martini served in old-fashioned whiskey glasses.

    Throw in some great people watching - from surly townies in flannel to Drake sorority and fraternity kids - and you have the recipe for a bar that you just shouldn't pass up.
