  1. A mountain pass just west of Denver that is popular for back country hikers and skiers. Elevation is just over 11,000 feet, with a summit elevation of over 12,000 feet. There isn't anyone to patrol for possible avalanches, so you might want to make sure you have an experienced skier with you before trying any of the slopes around Berthoud Pass.
